An off grid solar system is connected to a bank of batteries where the energy can be stored and used on demand. The power from the panels is efficiently pumped into the batteries and optimized by what it called a charge controller, this device also prevents over charging the batteries. To use power stored in the batteries a device called an inverter converts the 12, 24 or 48VDC electricity to 120VAC power that we can utilize to power typical home appliances.
